MESSAGE FROM THE MIDYEAR CONVENTION OVERALL CHAIR
MARK ANTHONY STA MARIA, MD FPNA
Secretary, Philippine Neurological Association, 2025
In line with the PNA Midyear Convention theme of BRAIN HEALTH, It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the PRE-CONVENTION SESSION of the 31st Philippine Neurological Association Midyear Convention, with the theme “Bridging the Gap: Neurology Essentials for Primary Care.” This special one-day program reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the connection between neurology and primary care—recognizing that brain health is not the sole responsibility of specialists, but a collective endeavor across all fields of medicine.
In our daily practice, we see how neurological symptoms often serve as the gateway to deeper, more complex diagnoses. Headaches, dizziness, weakness, memory changes—these are all familiar concerns in primary care settings, yet they require timely recognition, confident initial management, and appropriate referrals. This session is designed to empower our colleagues in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and allied health to approach common neurologic problems with clarity and confidence.
We would like to thank the city of Kalibo, Aklan for allowing us to pursue our advocacy and be closer to our colleagues in this endeavor. As we "bridge the gap", we hope to foster stronger collaboration, improve patient outcomes, and promote a more integrated approach to care.
See you all in Kalibo as we make BRAIN HEALTH matter!
